Town Water

The Town operates two public water systems, one in Keene and one in Keene Valley.

The Keene system (District #1) is new and works well. The Keene Valley system (District #2) is 100 years old.  In June 2009 the Town was awarded a $3.1 million grant to aid the water system rebuild thanks to the Federal Stimulus funding. It will be completed in the Spring of 2010.

The water systems are paid for by the water users on each system and not from the general town real estate taxes.

These are run by Wendall Wells (Water Commissioner) but call the Town Hall at 518-576-4444 if you need your water turned on/off or have any other water issue.
