The quickest way to find out what is going is to check the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks master arts calendar for the area.
Recovery Lounge: This is Scott and Byron Renderer’s place in Upper Jay. Also known as Upper Jay Upholstery. And also known as The Upper Jay Art Center. This place is the scene of excellent and intimate theater and musical events.
East Branch Friends of the Arts: This local group that has held art festivals, a photo show, staged plays and musical events, kite contests and much more.
The Lake Placid Center for the Arts has an extensive calendar of theater, dance and music productions all year. The New York Metropolitan Opera live HD broadcasts and encore performances are shown here
Pendragon Theater: This group performs shows all year and has its own theater space in Saranac Lake.
Depot Theater: This is a summer theater group that uses performance space in the Westport train station.
Seagle Music Colony: This is a summer school training people on a track to be professional vocal performers in broadway musicals and opera. Truly excellent performances, take a look at their 2010 season. It is in Schroon Lake and tickets are available online.
Theater Program at SUNY Plattsburgh: Stage performances throughout the academic year.
Lake Placid Sinfonietta: Billing itself as the orchestra of the Adirondacks they perform in July and August in many locations around the Park. They have a concert at the small park on Mirror Lake in the middle of Lake Placid early on Wednesday evenings in July and August.
Meadowmount School of Music: This is a summer school for advanced training in classical music performance, particularly string instruments and piano. Three concerts each week are open to the public. Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman all attended this school. It is a serious place with excellent talent.
Bluseed Studios: Bluseed Studios provides a project space where artists have the opportunity to exhibit, perform and share with the community. Its Cedar Street Warehouse is home to ceramic and printmaking studios, and a 2000-square-foot gallery/performance space.
Saranac Lake Waterhole another fine SL place it draws in big national acts. In it's early days this was Waterhole #3 and it has been through lots of changes.
Lake Placid Institute: This organization does a lot of things but my favorite is a lecture program that brings notable people to speak in Lake Placid.
